In the addendum section of the UAL application, the first box is for "affiliates."
The first option under the "affiliates" drop-down menu is for "unemployed by virtue of lay-off/shutdown of ALPA-represented carrer."
This was true for me a few years ago and I did have a period of unemployment because of it. However I am currently employed; in fact have gone thru a few different jobs since then. At the top of the page, it says "Do not select any affiliations if none of the following apply."
Would I be justified in checking the box as "unemployed by virtue of lay-off/shutdown of ALPA-represented carrer?" I have not to date, but was wondering how others handled it. I believe the intent of the question is to give ALPA furloughees some inside channels to get hired. I worked for 5.5 years at an ALPA carrier (ACA/Independence) that shut down and put me and many others on the street.
Thanks for all perspectives.
