All I know is, if they want to look at an applicant, e.g. a captain's son or pilot's spouse, they can pull that application. I also know the chiefs get together to look at applications. Beyond that, I have no idea.

Can anyone clarify the multiple choice question about the 750 PIC in the application? One of the choices are "750 hours PIC multi-engine turbo-jet, turboprop, complex, large (FAR 1) multi-engine aircraft." It's worded a bit confusing, but unless there's an airplane out there that's both a jet and a prop, I would take this to literally mean I can count my piston complex time. But what major airline counts piston time except when adding totals? So I'm trying to figure out if the intent of this question is to count only turbine powered PIC or if complex piston multi-engine time will be acceptable. Does anyone on the inside know the actual intent of this question?

I agree, the question can be interpreted several different ways.....

Of 62 LAX lines in March, 10 were SNA lines.

You can qualify for AS in one of two ways as far as PIC time...

1. 1000 PIC in a Multi-Engine Turbine or Military Jet (single or multi)

2. 750 PIC in just about any Multi AND 2,000 hours SIC in a Multi-Turbine.

Not sure how the question is worded on the application but I think this is the intent.

Looking at the announcement, I am surprised, as the internal memo about hiring specifically stated that 3,000TT was going to be the standard and a specific PIC requirement was no longer applicable. I shall ask around. I have a feeling HR won...again.

With 30-35 guys in the pool for spring/summer classes, anyone hired from the latest opening won't get a class date until fall. I don't know if they're interviewing yet from the latest opening.

Anyone know if the 30 people in the pool are part of the "80" new hires for 2013?

I have heard yes they are part of the total.

Other info I received from a source:
- Now over 3700 applicants (in the one week window).
- Over 1200 of these guys have "in house" recommendations (at least one or more).
- These applicants include astronauts, AF Two pilots, etc.,
- AS also has given preferential treatment to son's/daughter's of long-time captains (young blood).
- They are primarily looking at personality and how you will "fit into the fold." I.e., the standard thing of "Do I want to spend a month flying with this guy/girl?"
- The Delta dispute will not effect hiring. (I wonder about that one)
Good Luck...we need it.
