I have read that Republic hired about 370 pilots in 2012 and plans on hiring about 740 in 2013. Where is the demand coming from? I did not think there was that much major airline hiring in 2012 and am surprised to hear that Republic with have almost a 50% turnover in 2 years. Are they going overseas, major airlines, or leaving the industry?

They are spinning a tale of fiction. They can't even staff the Q400, let alone another fleet of 53 175s...if the contract goes through. I can tell you as a fellow (former tac-air guy) you will be extremely impressed with the pilot group, but ultimately let down by work conditions, pay and general quality of life. I can't talk to other regionals, but I imagine its on par with most of them, minus Skywest. Hope that helps.

The hiring is in anticipation of the AA deal going forward and attrition; as well as staffing the rest of the Q's.
I wish I could tell you to come here, but I think everyone should steer clear until we get a TA that is acceptable.
If the contract with AA is cancelled, I'd love for it to be because we can't hire folks.

Don't work there!! If they strike, and you do not have your year in with the union, they will fire you if you do not work. So.... If there is a strike, walk with the union and get fired, or become a scab. End of career.
