Bases: FLL and DTW. At the moment, FLL is junior. It may not stay junior, because most of the planned hiring will most likely be based in DTW. The planned route structure isn't well suited for early departures out of South Florida, so they're talking about bumping the DTW base so that the pairings will be more efficient. Who knows? This is Spirit after all.
Upgrade? Ask Shortbusdriver. I'm not representative. I made it in less than two years, but that was years ago, and I consider myself very blessed. My timing, entirely by chance, was right. We currently have a very large percentage of five and six year FO's. Hopefully, that will get better, but I wouldn't count on less than four years.
Look at the bright side. It took my SWA buddies six and seven years. It took my AA buddies ten or so years. etc. So don't forget to consider the history of our profession.
One more thing, We are ALPA and we are attemting to lead the charge against concessionary contracts. You will hear both good news and bad; both positive attitudes and negative ones (possibly from me on successive days), but those will be largely just posturing from both the company and the Association. Overall, the future does appear to be stable.

Spirit and National Airlines were right there neck and neck together in 2001. I remember when Spirit first officers would approach me in the terminal to ask how they could get hired at National. If things were a little different you and I might have had very different outcomes. Fate is a hunter

If it was one of the "wizz kids", they had a BIG in. They were hired as instructors, with the "promise" of being hired once we started hiring.
Breck, we ARE hiring. New hire class next week, and guys are down here today interviewing, with 2 possible new hire classes in Jan., and some more upgrades. Good Luck!!!

Is AirlineApps.com pretty much the only way to get their attention? I've had my app in for a while over there.. I wonder, do they have a recency requirement? I've not touched a plane in 2 years.
Also, is it critical to have an insider pulling, or can you get "the call" without it?
