It is nothing different then what QX has been doing for the last 35 years. Ever been to northern Canada or Montana? Same weather, without the Alaska smug.

Agreed, landing a caravan or 1900 is much easier is gusty winds and weather when compared to a Q400.

Oh really, so today, right now (figuratively speaking), they are landing 1900s with 40kts of x-wind out in Bethel?

Hageland (Ravn Connect) has the 15/15 schedule. Era (Corvus) is part 121 and doesn't have the 15/15 schedule and is requiring the ATP for the 1900. Hageland will hire Co-pilots with under 1000 hours for the Caravan or 1900.

The starting pay for Era in the 1900 is 40/hr.

Says the Alaska bush pilot. Alaska bush flying is tough, but not that tough. Most of the QX pilots don't want anything to do with the state of Alaska, unless it is flying for Alaska, in a Alaska pilot uniform. Best of luck.

I've seen the1900 do it but 99% of time the dash and 1900 cancel, caravans and 207s do it on a regular basis in the villages but in bethel we just use the x wind rwy

I did 55 straight across gusting 70 out on the coast once in the caravan going into hooper bay....it was a hell of a rush lol only managed cause i didnt check the weather machine before...otherwise i think it would have scared me away from trying when i heard the number. It kept me from taking off on the runway after i checked the machine...i used the ramp and departed into the wind instead.
