I really have no desire to commute from saf to ewr for 22/hr and no hope of upgrade at 46 years old.

Good for the OP to stand your ground and have respect for yourself. However, keep in mind you should never burn a bridge. Respectfully decline the offer. You know who will remember your name in the future. Good luck man

Please tell them that- their ignorance is boundless. And good for you-theyre desperate now and this is where they will feel the pain. It means no new contracts.
Unfortunately their arrogance equals, or possibly exceeds, the ignorance you've mentioned. The HR Rep lectured and instructed me on a subject in which she was dead-wrong, and insisted that I correct my on-line application to satisfy her demands even though I am contractually prohibited from doing so. You would think, considering their situation with training contracts, that they would respect an applicant that honors agreements. Overall, I felt a very cold undertone of contempt for pilots and it seems that attitude permeates the entire organization. |

Got a call from Republic today to schedule an interview. They downloaded my resume from PilotPool.com and called me the same day. Haven't called them back yet, but planning too and telling them I read Teamsters Local 357 and am not interested in working for them until they ever improve their work rules and get a contract.

Please remember you will be based in Pittsburgh, where 95 percent of trips start before 6am and finish after 9 pm. SO when you get your reserve schedule for the month, and you dont live in Pitt you are looking at a maximum of 6 nights at home a month and 250-300 dollars a month to live at a crashpad with 6-10 other people.

Yup! You're not the only one. She is known for a lack of professionalism and stepping out of her bounds. Republic interviews (I believe) Tuesday through Thursday, in decently sized groups. You can do perfectly on the interview and still not get a job. Most don't. They aren't hurting that bad. They do want to hit their 700 number this year, but remember when AE said they wanted 600? It's all politics. Republic sends most people home, and they don't interview people they can't hire. |

I hear and read about things like this here all the time, and yet I know I sat face to face with them a few weeks ago with HR with my clean record, no serious issues, meet the mins, will work anywhere in any airplane for peanuts, and was still sent home. So was half the pilot group I was in. Take that for what it's worth. The guy interviewing me made at least one major mistake checking my logs though,......
They can make major mistakes checking your logs and records and are not willing to learn otherwise. |
