I interviewed with 3 others this spring. All of us had 1400tt 100+ multi. One cfi the other there were with my company. The 3 of us got offers once reaching atp mins. The 4th guy seemed good enough to get an offer and didn't say anything went wrong. one guy had a little sim trouble and was still offered if he completes a jet training program on his own.

all these wishful claims there is a pilot shortage.
The pilot shortage began several years ago. The latest indication is China Eastern just opened up pilot bases in Europe, Australia, Canada, and the U.S. 6 years ago or so, all pilots for Chinese airlines had to live in China.

Can U imagine UAL opening up pilot bases in Tokyo, Beijing and Dehli, and hiring foreign pilots? The Chinese are only doing it because they are DESPERATE. And the Chinese are hiring some foreign FOs, Captains without being typed in the specific aircraft, captains who aren't current, etc., etc. They are suffering quite a bit from the shortage.

And, about a month ago, 6 new airlines were announced in China.

The system is clogged with pilots fighting, kicking and screaming to get into the door.
Then why is Eagle paying $5K signing bonuses???

I work for a different airline and we are losing at least 3 CA's a month to the majors and we cannot fill our new hire classes. During my recurrent ground school our asst. chief pilot said that there was a new hire ground school at Republic and no one even showed up. Is there any truth to that statement?

This is not true. They have had a hard time filling Q classes though. We are badly understaffed now- crew sked is messin with lineholders :( and the 170s havent arrived yet. Its gonna get ugly around here- well it already is:)

From a buddy in the training dept...... They had a bunch of new hires leave after they where informed that they were going to the Q, and they got up and left.

These stories are too funny......too bad everyone knows their certificate and equipment before they ever get to class. It's not something that is sprung on them when they get to the training center.

Why would they leave? What's the prob with the Q?

Actually I wouldnt put anything past this company and they are havin a very tough time filling those Q classes. Niether of us have any idea of the validity of this story. I do however think it may be an exaggeration.
