I heard Republic is interviewing PVT-IFR pilots and offering them conditional offers of employment, basically a class date when they hit 1500.

Must be that pilot shortage. Or the crap schedule and crap wages. Or SJS.

This reminds me of the programs they used to have way back in the day for Mesa/MAPD and ASA/FlightSafety. The "CFI from any school" thing sounds new, though. |
There ya go Jet Doc, life isn't so bad after all. :)
|
this industry is so f'd up. What other industry can someone who has 11,000 hours, multiple types and years of experience make the same $22/hr as a 1500 hour fresh out of flight instruction.
Poke me with a fork, I'm about done. |

Yep, anyone who completes ATP's full course and their RJ prep course and who gets a letter of recommendation by ATP is eligible.

republic interviews a lot of people, and requires you to buy your own hotel. A small number of those people get offers, no matter how well they show in the interview. People with experience in the majors are getting turned away. I've heard that Skywest tells people that if they do well, anyone interviewing can have the job. Unless you want practice, it can be wondered if interviewing at Republic is a waste of time. |
I called them back and told them I didn't want to interview at this time. Didn't get a chance to tell them it was because of their lack of pilot contract.
