I was there too...the room with the regional booths was sparse and pretty much empty once lunch came and went. I think more people would consider them if they would pay a livable wage ($40-60/hr for FOs and $90-120/hr for CAs). That pay model worked fine when they could hire college grads with 1000 hours of ASEL time, but given the requirements to have an ATP and the movement at the majors, few pilots who are qualified to fly 121 would be willing to fly for $20,000 a year anymore.

Thanks for your replies. I'd love to see the regionals have a more sustainable compensation package. Something that will make the sacrifices more worth while, and keeps the training pipelines more full. I really felt leaving the door open to 250 hour fresh commercials at the regionals allowed the proverbial can to get kicked down the road further. Maybe the ATP rule will make it that the compensation issue must be addressed, and not simply put off to another day because it is easier to lower minimums.

I attended this Job Fair since i live in DFW. I was impressed with the professionalism and courtesy to the few recruiters i had a chance to talk to. Whether there is going to be a pilot shortage or not i will not debate that topic. However i do believe based on the information that was given to me that there is something looming over the horizon.

It's pretty sad when someone can live off the government and make more money than a regional pilot. Just saying......I'm glad they will have a shortage we'll get back to supply and demand. Less supply and greater demand will either end the regional company or they will have to pay to play. It's about time.
