No, the regionals have increased a bottom feeder pathetically low entry pay because fewer are willing to work for it. It's not a pilot shortage. It's **** poor employers who have gotten away with paying crap wages far too long, and are faced with fewer pilots willing to put up with it.

I hadn't flown in 3 years and got job offers for every flying flying job I applied to, and even got scheduled for a few interviews to regionals I didn't apply to, last year... so yes there is a pilot shortage. Right now it's not that big but as individuals in the industry retire, the shortage will grow.

I am retiring from the army and I would have gone to the local regional airline that has a base in my town but the after the first year the pay goes down. The pay is still crap. Yes, the pay has gone up for.the the first year but that's it. No shortage. None.

I've been saying the same thing for several decades because it's always been true, despite the sky-is-falling banter about the impending pilot shortage that has never existed, and never will.
