Fall 2021
Would like others perspective on how this fall is going to work? Will we be paid to sit at home while training makes a large push? I'm assuming way fewer lines, more reserve and just enjoy the slower tempo.
I hope it's enough, we are about to lose a lot of CA's before the end of the summer if things hold steady. At least the Q is trying to stay ahead, the jet however is going to wait till August? Big mistake IMO, and why not start immediately?

Thin in both seats and it's like no one factored in losing check airman at this time either. I know one that is confirmed gone very soon and another just awaiting an offer..and countless CA's I've worked with that are all interviewing end of this month and July. I understand covid was very dynamic and hard to stay ahead of but damn that doesn't excuse the decision to not run jet upgrades at all for so long. What's the worst case, you have new CA's stockpiled on reserve making a fraction of any pilot you have at mainline?

Pay
Any idea about what is coming regarding pay upgrades?
If company doesn't give pilots a considerable pay raise it will be even worse. We may see higher numbers of pilots leaving. Only thing holding someone here would be the extreme necessity of holding a PNW base

I think a upgrade of pay would keep me here for a few years longer. I’m only an FO right now but if majors get desperate they may start hiring right seat to right seat. Being in the PNW is a major factor to who I will work for, so an upgrade In pay at horizon would keep me here. I hope AAG understands this as im sure there’s a few others like me in this boat.

I'm last than a year to upgrade. Have a chance to go to a corporate and start making 85K right now. Allegiant wants to interview. The only pro for Allegiant is the type rating. I believe Spirit ( has a great contract right now) may start calling right seats again from regionals if pilot shortage gets real.
Or I wait 1 more year to get my upgrade and wait till there making less as FO with qx.
Though call...since more money right now would help a lot. Mortgage bla bla bla.

No, they don’t have bases in the PNW, but commutes to LAS, ORD, and DEN aren’t the end of the world (and have to be easier then Medford). And if ULCC isn’t to your taste, it’ll at least give you another type and recent training event to buff and polish your resume for one of the real legacies. Do NOT make a regional your long term goal.
