It seems these days that the biggest competition for Horizon Air are the shuttle buses that are now starting to drive passengers into SEATAC from the smaller towns.
Why pay a few hundred dollars for Horizon Air to fly you into Seatac when you can get the same travel for forty dollars from a shuttle bus service? Every bus they add to the line is another empty Dash 8. According to the news they are adding a lot of buses. Skyhigh |

Ya but what about those buses driving over the pass in the winter? Might be something to save a little flying out of YKM, PSC, and a couple others on the east side of the Cascades?? Could those destinations just be seasonal....man I hope not!
I have used them and it is a good deal. They start in YKM and stop in ELN along the way. $40 from YKM to SEA. The leave four or five times a day. Similar companies also are bringing pax into SEATAC from the north and south. It is catching on system wide. To me it is a major threat to Horizon Air and probably to regionals nationwide. Why pay hundreds more to get to SEATAC when a nice bus can take you from your home town and get you there an hour or two later? Skyhigh |

What do you mean hundreds more? It's $59 to go from Yakima to Sea-Tac a couple weeks from now. I don't know about you but for $19 more than the bus service i would rather take Horizon.
If $69 fares were commonly the case then why are the buss services expanding so rapidly? Skyhigh |
I looked it up.
Update:
I have looked up some fares a few weeks from now and found $118. Not bad. Skyhigh |
Correction
Correction:
If I understand the web site correctly it is as much as $118 each way plus hidden airport fees and taxes. As much as $257. There are also baggage fees that could add another $15 to $100. An extra hour or two in a bus would be worth that. Skyhigh |

So in short, expect Horizon to be hiring street captains into the Prevost X3-45 by mid summer.
