Horizon?

Will Horizon ever recall or hire again... Just havent heard alot about it. Just wish I could be based where I am from. The Pacific Northwest

Don't we all!

No, never again will they hire. Those poor souls will be working there until they're 65, even the FOs.

Better chance of getting on with SkyWest, EMB PDX base... Maybe in late 2010...????

84 on furlough. They were talking about more furloughs. There is a little growth this summer. As of right now don't leave a job for QX. I agree with amcnd about SkyWest.

amcnd, what is this about skywest and Emb slots in PDX in 2010? If it comes to pass I hope a dirty freight dawg can get a bone:) I am keeping my fingers crossed that your crystal ball is better than mine. The Pacific Northwest is calling me home as well!

Your best bet to get back flying in PNW is Ameriflight. Even now they're not hiring. Its going to be a long wait. :(

Ya I already tried AMF once...No dice :( I'll try again though:) I would just be more happy to go to Skywest or Horizon, career progression and all, oh and West bases. I just don't see where there is any growth for Horizon without changing their whole core structure. Serving the same communities with 70 seat turboprops vs. the 30-50 seat turboprops, with less frequency ain't gonna bring people off the street sadly. Even Skywest has an uncertain future with United circling the drain and no one knowing what is going to transpire with Delta and its feed. Heck people have even talked about maybe Mesaba getting more flying in SLC. All is rumor but if that came to pass I would think more strongly about seeing if Mesaba would have an opening for a guy like myself. Hopefully no more furloughs at Horizon and maybe just maybe a couple of you guys get back to work soon, I'm praying for ya!

Competirion

It seems these days that the biggest competition for Horizon Air are the shuttle buses that are now starting to drive passengers into SEATAC from the smaller towns.

Why pay a few hundred dollars for Horizon Air to fly you into Seatac when you can get the same travel for forty dollars from a shuttle bus service? Every bus they add to the line is another empty Dash 8. According to the news they are adding a lot of buses.

Ya but what about those buses driving over the pass in the winter? Might be something to save a little flying out of YKM, PSC, and a couple others on the east side of the Cascades?? Could those destinations just be seasonal....man I hope not!
