Rumor is that there is a waiting list starting for Seattle. A new hire requested Seattle and got Portland instead.

So what are the upgrades looking like at this point? Heard they are coming down considerably.

How far into training do you get to request / get assigned a base?

That varies from class to class depending on where your class falls within the bid schedule.

When I went through training, we filled out the base preference sheets pretty early on (during indoc, IIRC), and the bases were awarded a couple of weeks later, towards the start of sim training.

They're down to about 9 years. There is a big group of '05/'06/'07 hires, so I don't expect it to come down much more for quite a while. Once those are done, it will drop significantly. There was nobody hired between '08 and '11.

If Seattle was not awarded, how long might it be before getting a bid awarding Seattle once being with the company? Is the rate of attrition at Horizon slowing down, or is SEA the most popular base for new hires?

This is all from a newhire that I was speaking with. They said that SEA was overstaffed by 10 people. Makes some sense as there are a lot of reserves in SEA. With that said they are using the majority of the reserves from SEA go throughout the system to cover flying.
Upgrade wise. The most junior CA to have a published class right now is a 11/05 hire. 8 years, 11 months, if my math is correct. Everything is fluid and each bid something changes. We have a fair amount of people waiting for class dates at AS, some left for corporate and others just found new stuff.
