I submitted the application already. Now, days later, a buddy of mine got back to me and wrote me an LOR and gave me his employee number. Can someone give me some insight on whether or not it would be a good idea to resubmit using his LOR? Could that be seen as a negative?

My experience is that you can submit that LOR during the face to face interview. They don’t really look at LOR’s prior to that. I wouldn’t sweat it. I doubt it will change the likelihood of them calling you for an interview.

This. Your buddy can send it on to his Chief as well. I applied with none, and then presented my 3 internal and 2 external letters upon document collection at my interview.

So I’ve applied, but I was honest about my residency being outside of Boston or JFK. Will that be a nail in the coffin for me? I’m not super competitive as it is, but I’d rather throw my hat in the mix than not.

2,000 TT
500 Turbine
1 Internal, 1 external rec
No checkride failures

A nail in the coffin? Ease up on the dramatics. We have many, many pilots hired that don't live in domicile. It's your TT that would keep you from being chosen

I wasn’t trying to be dramatic. Only loosely quoting a previous post that referred to telling the hiring department that you reside in Boston or JFK. That’s good to hear though. I’m fine with getting more time!

I hear ya, but certainly not a nail in the coffin. Does it help? Maybe, maybe not. No one knows how they pick and choose here.
