caveat, living in base on rsv isn't so bad, commuting to rsv always sucks, but we make it extra suck. I was a RSV king. I knew the rules and gave no slack because I got no slack in return. you accept the game and play to win... that's a lifestyle. What would fix it? A complete overhaul. bump flush and make new. |

Joe, I made the point that we are several metrics short of a great career compared to the big 3 and that a CBA won't address all of our career short comings.
You agreed, but said that when our retirements start we will be able to compete. I said thats not for 15 years, and asked how we will compete for the next 15 years? You said the contract. That's in a nutshell what I took from the last several posts between us. That's where I disagree with you. I HAVE to ask, what exactly is there to be positive about right NOW with JB? The problem is what you take is what you want to hear and spin.

Well we would need a cba but after that you can’t compete if guys want to fly the big planes or live in different parts of the country.
The only time that will change is years and years from now when the majors will be finished with retirements and we will be starting ours. They will be stagnant and we should have the movement up the list. It’s all cyclical. That is the one where I agreed with you and said it won't be till retirements start here and stagnation happens at the majors.

So if we get an industry standard contract you still think we won't get qualified guys? Honestly there really isn't a point to do this with you. Yeah few will come here the growth will slow even further which will make nobody apply here so we will probably furlough.....we are all doomed. Update those apps guys.
That is where I asked you about an industry standard contract. And that is all I said before you said I think everything will be ok with a CBA. As you can see that's a little different vs what you got out of it. Will a CBA fix us competing with the big 3 no but it will help vs what we have now. But if we have this problem and assuming and industry standard CBA so will SWA HA and ALK correct? As always airlines are all about seniority and how fast you can get that quick QOL which is why we will have a hard time because unless we really grow (we might) you will move slower up the list. I don't really want to play this game of what is positive that's for each person I have things that are positive and some that are not. |

What he said also add the fake long call that we never get. With that said the good thing is once you get a trip and are on it it's all yours you pretty much become a line holder with all the cancellation protection and jr man pay. You don't have to call at the end of your trip you just go home. They can change your schedule or add stuff but they can really end up paying for it. |
There’s a lot of RSV nonsense. The company is supposed to have the rsv assignments released by 1200 the day prior. There was a pretty good stretch of 40+ days where this wasn’t the case. I’ve been called out, started driving and then called back to see ay oh never mind your back to short call. I’ve been assigned a pairing and have it changed one hour into my drive. I’ve been called out with a 2 hour report to a flight that operates or DH’s report time waaaaaayyyyy before the 2 hour report window. I’ve had discussions with leadership about how a rsv can do a 16hour day extendable to 18. I’ve had long call changed to short call at 8pm then told it was an error in the software. I was supposed to be on short call. You should check the DRO. If you have a 5 day rsv availability then day 1 I’ve been assigned 0230 short call. This pretty much puts you in the window to get a 1day pairing for someone that calls out for a showtime around 0430-0530. Then the next day same thing. I know guys who have got called out doe 5 consecutive 1 day rsv assignments starting on day 1of 5.
The answer to most of these nonsensical issues is that the scheduling manual doesn’t addresss the case. In that scenario you’re on rsv and they pretty much own you. This is where a CBA will be a game changer. -Bubs |

Please keep this forum classy. If nothing else, this industry has proven to be completely unpredictable. If it were easy to navigate the perfect career path this forum wouldn’t exist. What is weighed heavily for one may not matter for another. Respect the fact everyone has their own path.
Perfection is an illusion, but if you can, get to a real airline with a real CBA. We will always be behind with no movement. In 2019, when the CBA passes, it will be a fine place to work- for now, you'll be away from home 3-5 days a month more than your counterparts, have garbage insurance and fly 3 day/10hr island/west coast trips. This is not in dispute- even ask the juicers. Enjoy the ride and keep those apps/resume updated. |

They cannot staff real reserve rules-so all this talk of a great CBA, is moot. We are a long time away from a TA and will have to wait even longer to have a CBA fully implemented. I commend the NC and MEC but its going to be an ugly battle to get B6 to come around. We are NOT even close. Any P2P guy who's honest will admit this. This fight is just starting in January. |
