Nah dude, widebodies. Despite our culture, the 23-30 year old demo is still leaving B6 in droves primarily to facilitate the posting of 787 selfies. Also basically anyone over a 5.

There’s some kid that flew for I think envoy and basically put something every trip on YouTube. He’s flying a 76 now at UA, I can only imagine a crusty 76 captain dealing with a 20-something FO with a flight bag full of GoPros and suction cup mounts on a transcon making YouTube videos. That of course is unless the 76 captain is a 20-something by now.

UAL has a 767 captain making a lot of those videos (just google “my layover life” or something like that). They also got Swayne, the new guy you’re talking about who is also making videos. There’s a thread on the UAL forum about it. I think UAL sponsors/approves these and helps them make their videos, fwiw. Given the size of their following, I’m guessing the company likes the free press.

No, being a pilot isn’t cool anymore because half the pilots in the US look like tubs of lard that would be mortally wounded by a flight of stairs.

20 years from now when all these retirements slow down these 25 year olds at the legacy’s are gonna face a harsh reality. Retirement stagnation is gonna happen the average age of new hires is somewhere in the mid twenties. I had a 26 year old PSA captain in the jump seat who was a different mindset. He was waiting for a check airman class cause they are paying something like $425/hr. He wouldnt consider the idea that this all may come to a screeching halt. He honestly believes retirements will continue at there current pace indefinitely and there couldn’t be a down turn in the industry.

We need a contract sooner than later to set us up for when times slowdown. My hope is AA,DL,and UAL get theirs before we do so we have a better shot of knocking ours out of the park. I don’t think JB is waiting for a recession, they can’t plan that far in advance, they are waiting for the holidays to be over.

Not sure what order they were picked. Just pretty excited that 220 is back. 9 in the past two weeks when I think we had 4 in the last 8 months.
