Can’t have it both ways in his mind. I make good money, my family situation is amazing. But yes jetBlue sucks in comparison to the legacies

Lol really...? First airline job I guess?
If QOL is what your after as a new-hire commuter, the ONLY thing that matters is how quickly you can get off RSV and start to have some control over your life. And to do that here at B6 you bid the 190 JFK.
Ya the 190 flight deck sucks compared to the Bus and it's basically regional flying, but you know what sucks more: Having to spend 10-15 nights a month sitting in a sh!thole crash pad in Queens waiting to get called to do red-eye round trips to the Caribbean because you liked the flight deck better on the Bus over the 190. Easily going to spend 8-12 months more on Rsv if you bid the Bus.

And as as retiring military, I have the luxury of moving anywhere I want paid by the government. My ideal gig is sitting reserve at home and getting paid. I plan to commute from current location for about 6 months and decide if B6 is going to be my long term plan. If so, I will be moving into domicile. So, considering that as my situation, would bidding Bus still be that bad?

Meh, QoL is different for everyone. Some enjoy sitting at home, not flying, making guarantee, and spending time with family. Others feel the need to credit 130 hours a month. Luckily, this industry allows everyone to find their niche.
Same with red eyes. I have buddies that pref bid them. Others who don't really want them. Not as much choice when you're on RSV. But they aren't all that frequent. I'm hearing about 1-2 a month in JFK.
Another thing to consider is the leg differences. 1-2 legs a day on the bus vs 4-5 a day on the 190. And locations. More NE regional-like trips on the 190. The 320 actually GOES places like the west coast and Caribbean.
And yet another factor is taking your spouse along, if you're into that sort of thing. Mo betta on the 320 than the 190.
Shorter RSV on the Emb, same first year pay, so if a line is what you seek, the 190 is preferable. You're very likely to make more on the 190 than the bus in your first year, if you're chasing the dollar.
So.many things to consider.

Thanks. That is good info. Sitting home on RSV is my goal long term.

Really! Yes, first airline job. I just thought that if I'm at the training facility where the sims are, it would be no big deal to just check it out real quick between sim periods. I guess you are saying that is not possible. Copy.

But in your original post you asked advice on which route would be the best for you as a new-hire commuter to get better QOL which I outlined in my first reply to you. I get it if you have reservations about sitting in the 190 cockpit all day vs the Bus. I'm a 320 guy and I sure as sh!t don't want to get anywhere near a 190.
2 years ago I knowingly chose the 320 as a new-hire that would be commuting because I'd been a regional guy for the previous 15 years and couldn't stand the idea of doing anymore flying like that. So that was my first concern. I knew I'd be on RSV about 6-12 months more than the guys in my class who took the 190, but the flying outweighed that for me personally. It may be different for you.
But I assumed QOL for you meant: being off RSV, getting weekends off to be home with family and not having to give up off days because you couldn't commute home on your last day of RSV. If QOL for you is more about the plane/flight deck/trip variety then yes the 320 is the plane for you.
You might could check out the sims if you know someone over at the training building that could let you in, but when you show up for new-hire training, you're going to bid for plane/domicile the first night you are there. Might be hard to pull that off.
Good luck. Welcome to B6. Go easy on the bluejuice and you'll be fine
