What is the commute situation like from the D.C. area (DCA or BWI) to either to JFK or BOS? Once a line is held, would that be pretty easy to do? Anybody out there doing that commute? I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks

Agreed with above - lots of DC - Bos commuters. I think there's a flight like every hour or so to Bos from 6am thru 9pm.
I don't commute but can tell you many DC layovers are built into our pairings too...I flew a 4 day once where every night was DC. The other guy lived in DC so real nice for him. Welcome to the company! |

Welcome to the company! I’ve done a couple Self DH’s from DCA and the flights fill up quickly it seems...even with a flight every hour. There’s also AA with regular service and their gates are adjacent to Jetblue’s. |

Very easy commute from bwi to Boston. Between JB, SWA, and Spirit, there’s a flight every hour or two. Loads are fine on us. Swa can be very full, I’ve been on the jumpseat enough that I think I can start it. :) only left behind twice in 6 years. If you live within 30 mins of dca or Bwi the 190 is the plane to want. You can fill your schedule with overnights and be home more than most people who live in base. PM me if you have more questions, happy to help.

DCA commuter
I am a DC commuter. It is easy IMHO. There are almost flights hourly on us and AA very hour probably close to 30 flights a day and Delta is jumping on that wagon too. Some days can be tough. The drama of the weather. I have got bumped maybe 2-3 times EVER. There are plenty of times you have to ride the pine...but its a ride.
I don't think of this as a commute at all. I think if I was complaining about my commute in front of a pilot that has 3 flights a day out of Knoxville I am also looking for some teeth.....LOL |

Do you commute day of or do you need a crash pad? What equipment are u on and what is your seniority like? Thanks
You will need a crashpad for reserve. After you hold a line, you will likely need to keep the crashpad for a little while, until you can hold commutable or partially commutable trips. Once you can hold commutable trips you will not need a crashpad. A commutable trip is one that starts late morning or in the afternoon, and yes you can commute in for that trip same-day. Hopefully that trip also ends in the afternoon or early evening, and you will make your commute home same-day. Because of DCA-BOS flight schedule, even some trips that start mid-morning can be commutable same-day. And as others have said, lots of DCA layovers on the E190. Like I said, easiest commute in the system. |
