Historic JB profit sharing payouts:

2005: 0%
2006: 0.69%
2007: 0%
2008: 0%
2009: 0%
2010: 0.02%
2011: 0%
2012: 0.42%
2013: 1.59%
2014: 3.02%
2015: 15.87
2016: 16.35%
2017: 1.9%
2018: 0.2%
2019: 0%

and those numbers actually reflect on how much effort I give during my day to day work. If I have a fo try to clean one more time I’m just showing them this...

For the love of God, please tell me your FO’s aren’t putting gloves on and cleaning during turns (face palm)

Remember starting in 2008 those numbers are minus this first 5% of the Profit Sharing Percentage Payout ("The Cliff).

For stance 2010 would have been 5.02% and 2016 would have been 21.35% and so on!

yep. I ask them every time why. I don’t understand but I can’t have them stop. I always make sure they never do it while any customer is on board.

Do you show them the FOM? Under duties and responsibilities. Captain and First officer. It’s the very last thing written.

NOT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CLEAN THE PLANE

I show them the words. Many times the mind blown look rolls over their face. Followed by but they told me....

I know it’s painful. I think it’s 11.3 I’ll check later. I keep a screen shot in my iPad of it for the snarky FAs too.

FOM 11.3.18 Captains
FOM 11.3.19 First Officers

Required reading for C-Suite Executives in the customer service Airline industry. A novel idea: Take care of your employees and they will in turn take care of your customers which = profits and shareholder value. Some executives just don’t get it.

They know. But they're accountable to people with differing priorities. If the purpose was to operate an airline with excellence then they would certainly consider such incentives. The board of directors doesn't see it that way. It hasn't at least since David Neeleman was forced out, if not earlier. He was no operational genius or friend of labor, but he wasn't trying to operate the airline like an ATM either. We're just a cash source, not an airline.
