Why did you even apply to begin with, then take up a valuable interview spot from someone who actually wanted to come to JetBlue?

We’re barely out of a pandemic that brought this industry to its knees, and we got this fuqin guy pondering passing up a major airline job for his regional. Wow.

I don’t think it’s that crazy if I’m within two years of a flow to think twice about sticking it out. When I interviewed 15 months ago flow wasn’t even an option so I don’t think I stole someone’s spot by interviewing. I’ll likely take the JB job. I was just wondering if anyone else was in a similar situation.

The real question is how many current JB pilots are going to jump ship once the legacy hiring machines are in full gear end of year/next year? Hopefully this happens en mass.

Turn down JB and flow gets shot down in arbitration, then what?

Then go to UAL, DL, AA, FDX, or SWA I’d imagine. Lotta hiring to be done in the next few years.

Right, but nothing is given. I’d question anybody turning down going to a major like JB. If they want a legacy, they can still apply OTS as you said, but instead their backup is a major they’re already at instead.

My guess is there will be a decent amount off the bottom based on historical data as well as anecdotally from my FOs.

Probably similar numbers as before. This time around Legacy X has mountains of debt to still pay off with business and lucrative International wide-body flying still depressed.

Not sure why you would hope for people leaving en mass from Jetblue. Just like before, those leaving will primarily have spent three years or less at Jetblue. All it will really do is make the reserve grid more red while they replace those pilots with new-hires. You might get a quick seniority bump if you’re new, but the effects are short lived. Once in a blue moon (no pun) a Captain will leave, but not enough to make a noticeable difference.

We’re also years away from CBA II, so there’s no real leverage gained by people leaving now. Our second CBA won’t come until the Legacies complete theirs, and well see above on how long it’ll probably take them.
