Still pretty new, but your post (and a few above) are accurate, to my limited knowledge. All of the non-seniority people I have met are over 65, retired, or don’t have medicals.
I am not aware of the schedule for NSLI’s, but the IP’s fly the line 2 days per month, and can pick up extra flying. The schoolhouse is spewing out more overtime than can even be covered, so I am sure the vast majority are picking up extra training events as opposed to flying.

And to make the same amount of money you have to pick up an extra 20 hrs/month on the bus, which equates to an extra 4 days of working. Assuming a solid line holder on the bus with 16 days off, one would be down to 12 days off so it’s basically a wash. Premium trips/VDA are another factor…as a 190 CA that is 300 and 400/hr respectively.

The bus flying is better but the red eyes are not good. Also, it’s nice flying with your favorite Captain every trip. There are pros and cons…if you have to commute, I can understand staying 320 FO.

My point was I don’t care about the extra money. So it’s not a wash.
I’ll take my 15-16 days off, I never fly redeyes unless I pick something up I want, and I fly to 24 hour Caribbean or west coast layovers. If I want weekends off, I can fly DR flights or bid LCR.
I want nothing to do with being 95% on the 190. Hard. Pass.

$200/hour just doesn’t move the needle enough for me when the 320/223 FO seats pay $40-$50 less. Also keeping the ability to pick up trips if you want, get the days off you want, the vacation you want. To each their own.

The other two CA seats are a different story.

Are you considering the downside of quarter bids bozo? Like; vacation bidding?

Id be for quarterly bidding if we had an LOA about vacation.

People like to keep saying this is some big downside. It’s only a downside if we negotiate it to be a downside. Personally, I don’t think it would be a big deal to bid annual vacation (still in September) based on seat held as of the most recent prior quarterly system bid. There’d be a few guys each year who get to enjoy a vacation they otherwise couldn’t hold. As it is now, it’s based on BES as of July 1st the following year. Doing it based on BES as of the most recent quarterly bid (which, if they were done Jan/Apr/Jul/Oct with effective dates 6 months out, would be a July quarterly bid with a Jan 1 effective date), wouldn’t change a whole lot.

Nobody who claims it’s a bad idea because of vacation bidding has been able to convince me why.
