Growing organically and working for one company without consolidating doesn’t happen as a pilot. Those that did retired early because the company went under eventually. The second we all realize that this or another merger is going to happen to both of these companies at some point, and the sooner we all realize that straight DOH is never going to happen the sooner we all will sleep better.

I imagine that many complaining about 100% DOH voted against ALPA several times and think they would always work for an organically growing JB and that they could negotiate better pay and QOL on a personal pilot contract. If they did vote for ALPA and are also complaining about straight DOH then they are hypocrites. A lot of the reason for bringing ALPA on property was bc the group knew consolidation was inevitable and being ALPA would be better in when it did.
And straight RS is never going to happen. And why should you keep all your relative seniority, gain the additional retirement movement JB has that NK does not, get moved up to (and hopefully above) JB's higher pay? Sounds like a win-win-win, while you expect JB pilots to give up their future seniority progression by shoving hundreds of young pilots ahead of them? Massive loss, and needs to be considered.

I never said I expected to keep all of my RS. Alpa policy is Alpa policy. Arguing for straight DOH or straight RS is pointless. We all knew the rules of the game or should have. A stand alone airline was never the end game. I knew it when spirit turned themselves into a ULCC and went public. JetBlue pilots knew it when they joined Alpa which is half the reason they joined after several attempts.

Each of our unions’ counsel will make our cases and the arbitrator decides. Complaining or arguing about it is senseless.

No one is asking for special favors, just that your date of hire determine your seniority at the company. That’s the way unions work.
I’m at spirit. You missed the point a bit. I’m glad the JB pilots voted for ALPA. I’m saying anyone that voted for Alpa and then wants to argue for straight DOH is being hypocritical bc that’s not how it works and it’s not how has ever worked. Further, the voting to become ALPA was in no small part bc the JB pilots knew that consolidation was coming at some point and being in the association would come with protections when that time came. If they truly though organic growth was to only future I’m not confident ALPA would have made it on property.

Well, you might be misunderstanding. Complaining, to you, was educating from my perspective. I was responding to one of my own who expressed that e thought we would bump a little in RS after the merger, and didn't seem to understand the negative ramifications that come later...

JB pilots voted in favor of a union because we outgrew, as a pilot group, the system we had in place and because of some unkept promises. Not because of fear mongering of a transaction.
