Low-cost juggernaut JetBlue Airways Inc. has lobbed a massive discount-fare air strike into New Jersey airspace today, announcing that it will launch 16 flights out of Newark Liberty International Airport in the fall.
The new flights represent the first service that the Queens-based carrier will operate out of Newark. Flights to five Florida destinations will start on Oct. 5, to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Tampa and Fort Myers. Flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico will begin on Nov. 17.
The carrier will offer introductory fares of $69 each way for the Florida flights and $99 each way for the San Juan flights through Dec. 14. “This is a natural expansion for us,” says JetBlue vice president Todd Burke. “Customers have been asking for this service out of Newark since the company started.”
JetBlue plans to operate these flights out of Terminal A.
