While KLM will be hurt, U.S. carrier JetBlue faces the loss of all its summer Schiphol slots. The airline only started offering flights out of the Dutch hub in August and as a result has no “historic” right to operate there next summer.
It’s one of 24 carriers that hold no historic rights, according to Hugo Thomassen, managing director of Airport Coordination Netherlands.
JetBlue is pressing the U.S. authorities to retaliate, calling for Washington to block KLM from operating out of New York’s JFK airport.
“We believe the U.S. and Dutch Governments have an obligation under our historic Open Skies Agreement to ensure that JetBlue is granted continued access at Amsterdam’s only viable airport,” the airline said in an emailed statement.

Robin has talked about it before and yes, it is a serious existential threat to airlines.

plus what happens to all the European elites who have never set foot on an airline and have a fleet of biz jets? The EU going to tell them they need to be turned over to the beer can factory and have to take a boat overseas?

Because Airbus I’m sure will sit back and watch their home countries, with the lobbying dollars they have, torpedo one of their biggest business…

There is no reason why you can't be environmentally conscious *and* reasonable, and the more people there are that can be both, the less of a voice the extremes will have.
That said, I clearly don't see how booting 2 NEO flights a day out of AMS is about anything other than limiting competition for KLM/Delta. You can reduce flying while maintaining competition, but they chose not to do that. Gee I wonder why.
