I always figured the "mop up crew" were the dozen guys in JFK who will fly whenever, wheverer as long as VDA is associated with it. 2:30 am turn to the islands? Giddy up lets go!

I do think longer term we wind up merging with someone else who will have a better west coast presence (the bar is low) but in the meantime it will be lean pickings for the LAX base.

I do think that's a strong possibility. Still hoping we buy AS... a person can dream.

They are financially much stronger, and more expensive than we are. If a transaction happens, it will be them buying us or a mutual tie-up.

No amount of "hope" will change that. :)

Is LAX junior or senior base for FOs at JB?

Seniorish. The top half of the FO list is more senior than most bases, because the captain list is senior, so upgrades are on the slower side.
After two years, I sit about the same seniority as my classmates in the other bases. There are LAX slots for new hires in some classes, but they are sporadic.

To add... a lot of the senior FOs bid reserve (one once said their goal was to make $0 in per diem each month). There have been months recently where anyone who wanted a line could have one (not a great line, but a line nonetheless).
