An airline can’t gate squat. BCAD owns those gates and we are in negotiations with BCAD as we speak. BCAD also wanted 14 million for a lounge that we want in T3. Management turned that offer down. The lounge would be located in proximity to bokampers restaurant. Bokampers would be reduced in size by half and additional square footage for the lounge would be taken from the existing crew room. So additional gate space and a lounge are all in negations currently with BCAD. From what I understand BCAD likes blue’s expansion plans and the agreement will be finalized soon.
By adding capacity that requires it to use NK gates is “squatting”. Sure they could come to agreement to lease those gates, but no agreement exists right now. I sure hope they get it resolved sooner rather than later. |

The point of “squatting” comment is that B6 is adding capacity in FLL outsize of what it can operate with its current lease portfolio.

Nope, wrong.
Squatting doesn’t exist in Port Authority controlled airports. There must be a formal lease agreement in place before exclusive use. If you’re talking about “shared usage” gates then part of what you said is correct. We can request shared usage with other airlines in order to expand operations. Requests aren’t guaranteed to be approved however.

The spirit of the squatting term isn’t in the sense of someone living in a vacant house, it’s more in the sense of B6 adding capacity that would require more gates so that it would encourage and benefit BCAD to come to a lease agreement. That’s all that I’m saying. |
Bid will be out this week.
