It’s also the lack of profit sharing
the CBA being years behind other airlines essentially 0 pay in training. a predatory reserve assignment desk and no insight of hiring again. Why would anybody join if growth and hiring would be so slow they would be on the chopping block for years if anything else went wrong. If the opportunity presented it self why wouldn’t any reasonable person not go to a company with better benefits, pay, profit sharing, a fair contract non rev rules, that’s actively hiring and growing. Your arguments are flawed, and it's clear you don't understand the cyclical nature of this industry. |
Exactly, the industry is extremely cyclical, which is why I am trying to convince the SkyWest Pilot to not go a company who is in a massive downturn. I also didn't choose a company based on "Profit Sharing". Im simply stating that all of your main competitors are getting it. Every major is profitable right now. It's a massive red flag for a company to be doing so poorly when the industry is generally on the up. What's going to happen when it does go on the down. And yes while your pay is almost up to competitors the rest of the contract is years behind. It's going to be very hard to get an industry leading contract when the company is doing so poorly.

How is the reserve assignment desk predatory? Our reserves rules are better than some, and worse than some, but hardly predatory. If you think you're beug unfailrly assigned, I urge to to become familiar with section 25.R. .
That being said, I don’t think that this is a bad place to work. |

Then you hold them accountable. NEVER answer the phone. That gives you 15 mins to verify the correct assignment. Then, you have a CBA section ready for a supervisor. A lot of assignment issues stems from new schedulers who just dont know all the intricacies of our CBA.
Perhaps in the next CBA there should be an incentive for them to follow the contract like awarding comp days/pay for violations. Right now there is no real incentive. |

This is true; there are a lot of new schedulers and usually they correct it. However, I have also had supervisors essentially say “too bad, it is what it is.” Then afterwards the union agrees with me and I have the luxury of going through a tedious grievance process just to have them say “sorry we won’t do it again.”

I’m not the biggest cheerleader of this company…but to say our contract is awful compared to the rest of the industry is a flat out lie. There’s good and bad in every contract you say our reserve is predatory but my friends at delta fly significantly more than I do on reserve and they also get converted to SCR for no reason just to sit in a pad in base. The contract I would say is a tad worse than United’s current cba and this is a 2018 CBA. Prior to this cycle keep in mind we were the only company with reassignment and holiday pay just to name a few things. This company isn’t doing the greatest but it is far better than any regional and saying otherwise is insane. |

He didn’t say it was awful, he said it was years behind. Which you also alluded to stating that JetBlue pilots are working under a 2018 CBA. Sounds like you both are on the same page actually. |
