Default PTO Cashout for Downgrades

Downgrading Captains: how many hours of PTO will you sell/use at your higher payrate before the massive paycut?

Any good strategies or tips for getting the 17% vs. just getting straight pay for cashout?

Or you could just save it until you upgrade again? Unless you're leaving Jetblue...

Best bet for cashing out with the 17% as far as I know, only exists if you hold a line. Find a buddy who is able to hold your trips for you, while you swap them to him/her on trade board for PTO, then take it back. Do this a few times with different trips.

I know guys who do this, but I have never done this myself. It obviously takes a trusting friend and one who has open days that match your trips. Good luck.

FWIW, I've been downgraded twice over the past 5 years, and never thought about selling PTO.

Isnt selling PTO an end-of-year thing? Everyone will likely be on their FO pay by then.

You can sell back anything above 100hrs at any point. Go into BCSS and PTO Cashout

Selling back a few hundred before downgrade. No strategy, just cashing out. Who knows when the next upgrade will be seeing as we only have 16 on the entire system bid for 2026. After 2 of these I'm not holding my breath.

Of all the airlines that pay pilots, this is one of them.

Delta pilots can keep their stupid profit sharing. We get to cash out our PTO for the big bucks every time we get downgraded!

Ca-Ching!! Who’s the big dummy now, huh?

Get senior enough to not be downgraded. Checkmate.
