“Well over 400”

If demand picks up I’d expect a supplemental to be released.

Here’s where the math didn’t really make sense.

There are 294 offline pilots currently. The “Target Active Pilots” for the 12/31 effective date supp bid is 3,929. For 1/31/2022, it’s 3,969. For the last effective date next year, target active pilots is 4,522. Projected offline pilots for that date is 302, so adding target active pilots and offline pilots is 4,824 total.

Also, PVBM doesn’t appear to account for retirements based on the fact that guys show up on effective dates in the bid status long after they are 65. As of today, we have 4,153 on our list and 49 retirements between now and the end of next year. We have hired 134 this year. There are only 7 classes remaining in mint (one appears to have just been added back). To hire 300 this year, we’d have to average 24 in each class (300-134=166/7=~24). That will be tough given the average class sizes of late, but let’s assume we do that. We will end the year with 4,306 (factoring in the remaining retirements this year and with zero other attrition).

If we hire 400 next year, with the 35 retirements in 2022 and zero other attrition, that puts us at 4,671. 4,771 if we hire 500. And if you count other likely attrition we will be between 4,600-4,700 with 400/500 hires, respectively, 300 of which will be offline pilots, so active pilots will be roughly 4,300-4,400…yet we still have vacancies from this bid to fill 4,522 target active pilot slots (which don’t include the 300 offline). So, guess what I’m saying is, even if we hire 300 this year and 600 next year (50% more next year than the figure Lum used), we will still have the vacancies from this bid to fill it. We might be short on captains in some B/E/S though depending on how much buffer they used in their target active pilots, given that they are most of the retirements and some of the attrition.

I submitted mine in this same time frame and am also patiently waiting. To the other poster’s note, I had to redo one phase check (not a checkride) early in college at the end of a flight course. I haven’t received a request for a flight addendum yet, though I explained it in great detail on the application and video/pre-screen interview.

Hiring Process

For those who have gone through the process how long has it taken from phone interview to hear back about F2F then to phase 2 and then class date?

Are they hiring onto the A220 yet? What does that look like going forward?

There isn’t such a thing at jetblue “hiring onto” an aircraft. Kind of semantics…but there are vacancies created by bids, and newhires get to bid for whatever vacancies exist and are doled out to each class. There was a newhire instructor who was put on the 220. Don’t think he was a seniority list guy but don’t recall for sure. Haven’t seen any others yet. There were 73 unfilled BOS 220 FO vacancies in the last bid, so unless there is some sort of cancelation bid between now and a year from now, there will be newhires getting the 220 over the next 12+ months.

Does JB want part 141 stage check failures listed on the application or is it just real checkride/part 135/121/etc failures?

Anything that would be on your pria. Stage checks from college aren’t on your pria.
