The open time trick that gets released at 7 am in such a scam !!! They drop these great trips in open time only to give them to a reserve , so I call to ask why she explain oh yeah we hold them to give them to reserves at 7.
So I say ok , but I want to fly the trip as I drop all my stuff in the windows borrowing PTO so I WANt to the fly the trip. 2 hours later they have an email saying they have no coverage and no reserves !!!! So they send out RSA emails . I wonder how they got used !!!? It's such a crapy crazy design , they shoot them sleeves in the foot |
This is our chance! Do not pick up any RSA, VDA or RTF. We need a contract before summer! This is the only leverage we have. It's business not personal!

Is there a place we can find out? We could do this outside of ALPA, and post it here.
If you feel that strongly, then have a little bit of courage to go along with your conviction. If it's that important to you then contact them in person, or via email, so that you can identify yourself, rather than exhibiting all the "courage" it takes to put up an anonymous post here on APC. Also, if the MEC truly speaks for you and all the negotiating "experts" here on APC then follow their most recent guidance and stop talking about contract negotiations and tactics on sites like this. |

Don't worry with our irops you will have plenty of chances. |
I highly recommend not taking any RSA trips. Fact of the matter is most pilots are greedy and they will take them. I will bet my first year paycheck, we won't have a contract for another 18-20 months. The company saves about 400MM every year they don't have one. We can sit here and ***** about whatever we think, but nothing is going to happen anytime soon. The Railroad labor act from 1926, and it's amendment for the airline industry in 1934ish, only benefit the company, not the poor little union folks. Look at Hawaiian, and get ready for the sam type of outcome. JB is up for it's first contract, so expect the company to draw out as much time as it can. Until then, 100-150 pilots will continue to leave and go to a major airline. Face it...if we want major airline pay, then we are going to have to get on with a major airline. ALPA will never get a good contract for Frontier, JB, Hawaiian or any commuter it represents, because they make all their money off the Big 3 (UAL, Delta, and Fedex).

Even if you're planning to leave or thinking of leaving to go join a properly-compensated pilot group (count me in that group), please devote a little time and effort here at BlewJet to attend LEC meetings, wear your lanyard, educate juicers and lanyard-wearers alike about the ramifications of RSA pickup, and spend a couple of your off days holding a picket sign when the time comes. Otherwise, there's a saying... "This is why we can't have nice things." |

You can't have it both ways. ALPA won't get us a good contract because they make all their money off the big 3. That would mean that ALPA is only interested in money (maybe) which would mean ALPA would want us to get a great contract to make more money, right? |

By the way, publishing a list of non members hopes to accomplish the same thing, compliance through shaming. That being said, I never published a list of RSA, VDA and open time whoores. I just floated it as an idea. So you are safe to keep screwing us all over for some more JRA pay. |
The union is a necessary evil. Half of ALPA is made up of 30000 pilots, that they get 2% out of. 3500 more pilots will only equate to an extra 8MM in dues. Also, we pay the 2% for the last 20 months, and have received a few lanyards and pens. Do you think we will get that 2% back when we don't get retro pay? (1st contracts never get retro pay)
Once again, look at Hawaiian if you want to see how we will turn out. They have been trying to get a contract for 4 years, and nothing? If ALPA cared for them like they do for FedEx, UAL and Delta, then they would have a new contract by now? I'll wear the lanyard and Pickett...hell, I'll even turn down any open time and RSA, but unless the MEC gets their **** together, our contract will be about 15-20% more than it is now. Anyway, I'm hoping for the best, but expect the same result as Hawaiian! |
