Quote: Make sure your seat is clean. Done. You "cleaned". It doesn't specify how much cleaning you're supposed to do.
Actually in that video that you had to acknowledge that you watched, pretty sure it said the whole plane.

Non reveing / deadheading I am gettting the Dirty looks constantly , I say thank you and leave. Some cases they don't even respond when I say it , sadly this is becoming a us versus them on this particular subject. And it's only a selected amount , not all of them by no means . We still have some great crews here .

Quote: These are all teaching moments. Every new pilot to the airlines comes in believing in the company and the management decent. Why would they believe otherwise. Why would they accept the job if they hated the company?

It is the duty of each pilot to calmly educate those who are new or simply don't know. If you have flown with me then you know, on multiple occasions, I have spoken to fellow pilots about the cleaning during the deplaning process. During my FA brief I always ask to see each pilot. During the course of the introduction you ascertain the length of tenure of the pilot and simply request upon completion of the flight they do not don blue gloves and simply grab their gear and leave. I don't criticize their politics and add even if they clean on their own flights that out of respect for me and my aircraft please do not.

Its a simply process and one pilot at a time we are making changes.
What if they do it anyway? I mean, it's only "your" aircraft once you're underway. And your instructions are actually against the company policy and "culture". I sometimes help clean, or at least cross the seat belts, out of respect for the FAs (at another airline) and to move things along. Isn't this a service job in which a crew is designated with the task of getting an airplane from A to B as efficiently as possible for profit? And is customer satisfaction not included as part of that profit? What about making an efficient turn to depart on time?

A few weeks ago on a DHD one of the FAs asked us twice if we wanted some blue gloves. We just said "no thanks" and got off the plane to grab some food on our quick turn. I don't clean while on duty, period. When I non-rev on us, I grab my trash and cross the belts in my row. Done.

It's ridiculous that we even have to have a 10 page discussion about this or even have to watch some stupid pass travel CBT and clean planes. It sounds absurd and absolute ridiculous when I tell my friends at other airlines about this.

Do the flight attendants help out with setting up the cockpit?
Do they help with an approach?
Nope.. why should pilots do the FAs job or the cleaning crew's job if no one's helping us with ours?

No, this is not a service job. You are not a janitor or a customer service agent. You are a highly trained aircraft operator, not a grocery bagger.

What makes for an efficient turn to depart on time is doing YOUR job to verify the airworthiness of the aircraft and the pilot (read: food/coffee), evaluate the en route and destination weather and airport status, and make any adjustments to flight planning as required.

Delaying these steps due to a compulsion to satisfy a janitorial fantasy can result in a significant flight delay. Why can't people focus on doing their own damn job?
