If you can get on at the big 3 and you want to go there I would totally skip jetblue. If you are here at the bottom of the list and under 40 and not happy or want more I would totally be applying to the big guys.

Again JetBlue is what it is, and it's a pilots market.
You're not far off on those dates. And you're right I knew the pay rates coming in. What you can't really know before you go is the intricacies of the work rules and trip construction and how they work toward or against actual compensation. I knew the rates were bad, but I honestly figured work rules and trip construction would make up for it a bit until a CBA was in place. And apparently I was also naive thinking a CBA wasn't all that far off. And you also don't know the true culture of an airline until you're on line for a few months (probably doesn't help I'm on the juiciest plane in the juiciest base ). I'll just leave it at that before I offend a juicer... Not miserable here by any means, just bringing up points I wish I had a deeper understanding of before I came here.

You might be right. I heard a rumor that applicant numbers were down last hiring window. The window usually opens in March with the yearly WAI conference, so having it open in January is kinda interesting to me.

Folks, these people are speaking the truth. I get the move out of a regional. If your airline has flow though I'd stay. If you come here be ready for a fight, don't believe the cumbaya, "it's just a few angry pilots" blue$h!t they will feed you. Most of all, keep your apps open and updated elsewhere.

Wouldn't it be great if we had an association of some sort that could go to job fairs and hand out information on the current "culture" at JetBlue? The frustration some of us have here is that we feel like we were lied to, I don't regret the move to come here from my former employer. My Regional wasn't sunshine and roses, but they did treat us like professionals which is more than I can say for Jetblue sometimes.

Seriously, how do you think you/we were "lied" to? Did you not do your research? Newsflash, we are not a legacy, we don't have the infrastructure or the resources as the big 3 do, your first IROP here will sure open your eyes to how things run on an operations level. But to say the jetblue is so awful that no one should consider it is kinda comical.

Even if we did get a CBA tomorrow, that brought pay a lot closer to legacy pay rates and other work rules, there will always be pilots who are angry and jaded. Thats not to say many of us are not updating our apps and then reevaluate if we ever get a call. Some are just willing to wait and see with a contract whenever it comes. Some of us now live in base, have a much easier commute to work, etc that makes the wait and see easier.

We are in a pilots market now, and really the legacies could destroy jetblue by just sending someone to offer preferential interviews at the T5 bus stop.

To put things in perspective, even thou I am still on reserve (have been here just over a year) on the Airbus, I have had a few months of hybrid lines, move up lines, I have made pretty good money compared to what I would have had to do as a regional captain. When many FOs transitioned from the E190 to the Airbus it kept pushing many of us hired in the last 1.5 years down keeping us on RSV longer. There are ways to manipulate your schedule to maximize pay if you really want to work. And the commute is so much easier on JetBlue than anytime I did while at a regional.

At least we do have a union that is willing to fight for what we feel we deserve. We will see whenever a TA does come out, because many of us that are on the fence will actively try to leave if things don't. Until than, do what the MEC advises you to do in the meantime.

The biggest eye opening experiences I have had here was:
- We have more passwords here and different websites to log onto that it feels like we are hiding national secrets on our servers.
- IROPs can become full meltdown mode, yet if you live in base thats when you really can make some serious money if you want to. Some do, Some don't because they want the company to feel the pain of unhappy pilots and lack of staffing.
- Healthcare was better at my regional
- Cleaning planes is a sore subject, but its in the policy manual and if we chose to use jetblue for non rev benefits, its part of the deal. We knew the deal when we came here. Wish we had the non rev network of AA/DL/UA but we don't.

I have enjoyed my time here so far, even thou I have been grumpy on a few issues. Yet I continue to wear my ALPA lanyard, clean a little when I non rev, and do what I am advised to do when at work by ALPA and even the chief pilots. FLY SOP and FLY SAFE. Take it how you will... some people are happy here and some are not, but yes things do need to change.

Could it be that some of these guys as mad as they are were probably blue darts,no college degree and nowhere else to go? Just asking?....
