Short term, things are going to dramatically slow down in the freight world third and forth quarters as the world recovers from this economic shock. Companies will falter and perhaps a bankruptcy deal on a sim will become available. Couple that with a world event that involves War, natural disaster, or pestilence, and Connie is back to making money again and can afford that sim.
Good luck to you all.

A sim cost between 16-20 million, depending on whether you give them the front end of an airplane for parts. If you buy a used sim you have to bring it up to current standards to certify it. The last sim they bought ended up costing millions above the 500k they paid for it. Very tough to see a return on investment at money saved on training costs alone.

The biggest question is: how many passenger widebody airplanes will be back in the air? If the number stays low we are pretty safe. That is our current saving grace since freight numbers were dropping for around 2 years prior to Corona. Other readers: remember just a couple months ago K4 had plans for parking/scrapping 400's and it was looking like a slow/tight/lean year. The passenger widebody mass parkings are artificially making the freight industry look good. I don't think a whole lot of hiring will take place this year. I think this year is pretty well known. If you fly boxes you are safe for the year, manufacturing supply chains are broken and pieces are not in the correct spot. Global recession possibility makes next year the real question mark. Those of us lucky enough to be at K4 hopefully feel as grateful as I do but we shouldn't think we are in the clear of this global event.
Connie owns the chairs, the pencils, the engines, the OSC airport, and most importantly almost all the aircraft. So yes things may get tight in then next few years but the competition will have a far more difficult time than Connie Kalitta.
No disrespect to the Majors, The LCCs, and the ULCCs but I'd much rather be at this ACMI than the others...
I'm feel pretty good about Kalittas position...
