The point is back in 2017 Kalitta made a hard about face and made great steps toward becoming a destination airline. Everything was sunshine and rainbows and we were going the correct direction. In the last year we’ve made another hard about face and we are quickly becoming the Kalitta of 2016 all over again. A lot of the people here were not around to experience anything other than the rosy times, so they are getting kicked in the teeth for the first time and are complaining.
It leaves 3 options as a pilot: 1) Vote with your feet and leave. 2) Try to make things better via either the union or joining the management team. 3) Dig your head in the sand and hope for the best. Right now we have a lot of option 3 individuals, and nothing will change as long as they are the majority.
Under the current vector, the company is a miserable place to be and getting worse. Whether it survives or not may be irrelevant if you can’t stomach the next rotation let alone the next 5, 10, 20 years.

Yeah the pay was great…but until certain people retire it will be the same old Kalitta. Being at a real airline now, seeing what a real training department is like, what a solid company culture is, I could never go back. I have a lot of friends there and if they decide to stay I wish them nothing but the best, those on the fence, the grass is definitely greener.

Enjoy your real airline. I hope everything is super real.

Lol…abused spouse syndrome. When you know nothing different, you’re willing to accept a subpar experience. It’s suppose to be a training department, not a checking department.
