Kalitta Air now accepting FO applications

What's up with this talk of training failures? I've worked for my share supplemental carries, some of the most infamous, but I don't recall any trouble with excessive training failures. They happen, but in fact I think there rare. A B747, classic or glass is a pretty straight forward big jet to check out, can't imagine any justification for busting guys for the hell of it. What company would put up with that from their training staff. What a waist of time and money. I don't work at Kalitta so maybe I don't get it, and I'm not saying you guys are wrong. It just sounds ridicules.
I thought the same thing as you when I came here. I have many type ratings and have been through my share of different airline and private training departments. Get the right instructor here and the training is some of the best I have seen. Get the wrong instructor on the wrong day and it is pink slip time.

Actually MAX I believe the training dept dispelled that rumor of lots of LOFT failures....and in the last cycle there were only MV failures... perhaps I am wrong... I know there have been some loft failures in the past. Hopefully there has been a readjustment in the training department, time will tell. There is no denying... there have been some issues in the training department. I also know there have been lots of guys go thru with no issues.... Max is right in that the certain instructors on certain days have been bad news.... Lets see how things go moving forward.

I had a friend who fly at Kalitta and he hated it...Flying all over the world into different time zones, and never adjusting. Plus pay and benefits isn't great. If it is the only option, I guess it beats not working.

Don't forget the oral failures because guys ran out of time because "certain" instructors made them look up every answer regardless of the applicants knowledge. The company has made no resolution from the survey which made it very clear who the "certain" instructors are. I don't expect them to either. They're part of the Good Ol Boy Club.

Well your friend is wrong....the benefits side is pretty damn good actually. Health care for $80 a month i believe and half that after 3 years and free after 5. The retirement needs to be higher, the pay needs to be higher. depending on where you live you rack up a crap load of airline miles that you keep.

No lie I'm alumni, and I grooved on it , the jet, the peeps, the mission, compensation needs improvement , and the schedule drove me back to my frac, but it was kick ass , balls out flying, in a 747 yet.

This. The schedule is awful, the pay is lousy, but the flying, the airplane, and the crews are great.
