Uniform
Clutch,
I know, $1500 for a uniform was outrageous. Most of the components I had to pay for I never wore. They deducted it from my paycheck. It took more than a year to pay it off. It was a scam and more evidence of how the airlines are profiting from their own employees.
Why don't you address the real issues? Do you think it is rational for a college educated and experienced professional to work for such meager returns?
By the way, Is that a picture of you?

I fly a little Lear part 91. Tomorrow is the first 5 day trip I have ever done with this company in my 10 years with them. Mostly day trips or one nighters. The kind of company that will dead head the plane back for holidays etc. I am paid well enough, and work around 85 days a year but most importantly am treated like a person. If this job ever went away (knock wood) I would most certainly do something else. Like most just not sure what that would be. In my early 40's this is all I really know. 26 years of flying corporate I have had a great time but am extremely spoiled......scratch that.....lazy. 3 little kids at home and flying over the holidays? For how much pay? It's not in me.

Sky...you have never been envious of Airline Pilots...??? I call BS. You hero worship blather about how all these so called airline pilots you knew in your youth ...had money.. and time.. etc.... and you wanted those things... hum...envious.
Oh... and please STOP calling your self an Airline Pilot.... you gave up on this profession long ago. You are a self employed "Real Estate Person".... who is happy, and fiscally sound now. When you file your income taxes under profession what do you put? I HIGHLY doubt you put PILOT or Airline Pilot... but I could be wrong.
$1500....outrageous, but its certainly possible. I don't think I have ever spent more than $400... but every company is different.
Keep up the good fight Sky.... I have enjoyed reading you as of late.

I am glad you asked because I put "airline pilot" or "pilot" on my tax return. At work my title is "corporate pilot" my job duties happen to include being a real estate broker.
In regards to my youth I guess you are correct. As a kid I envied the wealthy airline pilots in town. So arrogant and self absorbed. A marvel for sure.
