Of course you're comparing apples to oranges, but it's a good story anyway.

Horizon FO $45x80 hr. guarantee=$3600/160 (40 hr per week normal joe wages)=$22.50 per hour comparable wage

I'm sorry that aviation didn't work out for you. I'm glad you're in a better place. Enjoy flying your C-150.

It's amazing you got a job at the airport crunching numbers! Just can't stay away can you? Too bad Tony's restaurant isn't there anymore. I'm up in Orlando.

I am still pending receipt of another offer in Winter Haven. I am hopeful to be able to choose between the two soon.
Congrats on the job offer(s) bryris - I'm being positive for you in the plural!

Apples to Apples.

I flew for Horizon Air and made $492 every two weeks. I also was gone a lot more than 40 hours a week. It was closer to 85 hours a week. That comes out to $2.89 an hour TAFB take home pay. Yuk ...

I am in a much better place.

My current job August numbers show me at 124 hours TAFB, 90 hours pay and 15 days off which means about $7500 @ 3rd year narrowbody pay.
I am in a good place myself.

$7500 a week? That's not that good. I make that every two weeks and thats when I'm CONUS. OCONUS its twice that...I would consider anything less that 5K per week good....But that's me...I'm all about money and status...

Default Monthly

I had a month where I only flew one hour but made $5600. As pilots it is easy to play games with the numbers. All of us have had exceptionally good months then try to hold on to that glory for as long as we can.

I got a bean counting job. Start Tuesday. But the money is good and I will be motivated by the fact that I am well on the way to airplane ownership and I'll be home every evening, with the wife, etc.

I thought it was a pretty good reason myself. :-)

I think we are just thrill seekers. Remember the feeling you had when the wheels came off the ground on your first flying lesson? Or your first sweet landing in a big jet? (That one probably took a few tries ) When you start running out of these new experiences all of a sudden it becomes a job. Oops! Didn't see that coming.

Push on with pride...
