So I got a real job. Now I just want to fly.

Of course you're comparing apples to oranges, but it's a good story anyway.

Lakeland Linder Airport. In fact, I just received a formal written offer for the job. There is some bittersweetness as I left the CPA world for a reason. However, I left the flying world for a reason too. I'll be making over twice first yr regional pay. Having real dreams of purchasing my own airplane soon...my own hangar, etc.
I am still pending receipt of another offer in Winter Haven. I am hopeful to be able to choose between the two soon.

I flew for Horizon Air and made $492 every two weeks. I also was gone a lot more than 40 hours a week. It was closer to 85 hours a week. That comes out to $2.89 an hour TAFB take home pay. Yuk ...
I am in a much better place.

$7500 a week? That's not that good. I make that every two weeks and thats when I'm CONUS. OCONUS its twice that...I would consider anything less that 5K per week good....But that's me...I'm all about money and status...

Monthly
I had a month where I only flew one hour but made $5600. As pilots it is easy to play games with the numbers. All of us have had exceptionally good months then try to hold on to that glory for as long as we can.

I think we are just thrill seekers. Remember the feeling you had when the wheels came off the ground on your first flying lesson? Or your first sweet landing in a big jet? (That one probably took a few tries ) When you start running out of these new experiences all of a sudden it becomes a job. Oops! Didn't see that coming.
