You've been around this forum long enough to have a histroy of the back and forth here.
NO ONE has ever claimed that all is sunny and clear with the profession.
To suggest such is blowing smoke - no more than ONLY presenting the depressing, sad, 'the sky is falling' view.
Many of us have asked for a balanced approach.
I doubt you would endorse a solely optimistic view of the industry would you? But some seem to except the opposite approach with no other thought.
Sky himself have called others who present BOTH SIDES OF THE COIN so to speak as "cheerleaders", yet he sticks with his one dimensional approach and thinks he is "converting" people (his words).
Sounds a little Jim Jones'ish to me - -but whatever works in your mind.

I have faith that you will come around and believe that even now you privately see the light or else you too would be in line at a legacy right now. Its OK
No Sky. You'll not be able to count me as one of your converts.
As you have pointed out in the past when you frag to degrade me - I've never had to see the light because I didn't want to be an airline pilot.
It was way down my lists of the type of flying that I wanted to do. And don't give yourself any pat on the back that you had anything remotely to do with my decision to chose a different path becauses it was made well before I was ever on APC.
How did our mutual friend have to back away from the truth?
I see what I want to see and it is wrong in your opiion, but you see what you want to see and it is the shining truth huh?

Aviation may or may not be a good career choice -- that depends on unknown future events and your own personal needs and capabilities. Despite the wealth of available information and opinions to guide you, mistakes or bad luck can result in disappointment. It has always been this way.
One thing is certain, however: if you repeatedly apply rude epithets to your fellow pilots, then your personality is not a good fit for a flightcrew environment, and you will be unhappy there. If you somehow reveal this attitude when job-seeking, the response may be "Not you, not ever."

Doesn't the fact that there is an "aviation divorce lawyer" ad on these very forums speak volumes?

I think most people on this topic could save themselves a lot of time and effort if they would just do a little research on the state of the industry. Just compare everything from say 30 years ago until now, you now have your answer.

Compare many industries to even four years ago and things were very different. A stock broker could earn money. A GM Factory Worker had a job. A retail clerk at Dillards had a job. A middle-aged construction worker was working and not on food stamps. A bank teller could count on showing for work the next day and a regular paycheck.

Now, all five of the above are very likely to be out of work and out of unemployment benefits, be in some stage of foreclosure or be wondering how they're going to make the next house/rent payment, and have no health insurance unless they have a gaggle of kids.

Some of those folks that thought they had good, safe jobs are pretty unhappy and stressed right now. They used to have a job they hated, but it gave them a steady paycheck. Now they don't have a job nor the paycheck.

And the whole student loan debt thing goes away in 10-15 years if the right repayment plan is chosen. The minimum required payment is zero dollars if one's income is low enough, thus school teachers, police officers, and Peace Core Volunteers aren't suffering from high payments.

Knowing that the world has changed and good, safe jobs no longer exist, and student loan debt goes away rather quickly, what would you rather do? Train and show up for a job you hate, or show up for a job you love?

Choose wisely.

Default Two choices?

Why are there always only two choices? Cubicle or flight deck? Job you love or a job you hate? People usually are multifaceted. Our skills sets and interests go beyond just two choices.

So one is a dud, go out there and find another. If you get stood up by a date get another phone number and try again.

Stock brokers, construction managers may be having a hard time right now but eventually the economy will get better. They will find jobs again and at a higher wage. Pilots however are not in the same situation.

Management used the slowdown as a convenient excuse to cut wages and eliminate benefits. They have been on this path for 30 years now and are going to keep doing that until they have the lowest paid pilot group.

Indeed choose wisely. Just because things are down for the majority right now is not an excuse to make an irrational choice.

Why does this seem to be a popular response whenever someone posts something that you don't agree with? I see it a lot in the Cargo forum too.
I suppose this is some type of huge insult?

If you actually think that the aviation industry is the only business where workers have problems then I'd probably scream OSTRICH ALERT below your post.
