Prisons cite the infractions that lead to increased sentences.

I'm having a hard time believing you are actually thinking about the issue and not just being intentionally obtuse.

How can you not see a problem that the most developed country in the world has the highest incarceration rate? We are paying how much each year to keep people off the streets instead of rehabilitating them? The US isn't full of bad people but I get you want to spend even more taxpayer money to keep people behind bars. Every time someone gets out of jail and commits a crime, it is a failure.

Bull$7it. It's one step on the way to it and is always part of a tyrannical government. I think I know a little something about it given that I was born and raised for several years under such a government before we were able to get out. You're seriously naive.

I can agree with that. In fact no one is innocent. The only only reason you're not in prison is because the powers to be haven't come after you for the crimes you have most certainly committed. The laws in this country are so numerous that everyone is guilty of a crime and most don't realize it.

That is sort of how a representative democracy works. You should try Switzerland if you are more interested in a direct democracy form of government.

Representative democracy? When is the last time you felt like you were "represented" by your elected officials? Your leaders are corrupt and don't give two $hits about you or me. They are slaves to their corporate donors and will pass laws accordingly. As long as there is money being poured into DC from corporations and billionaires, we will continue to have taxation without representation.

H. L. Mencken argued that the voters themselves are corrupt, greedy, and stupid, therefore they get exactly the leaders they deserve.
