95%, you gonna cite that?

The people that are in prison are not innocent. They are there for a reason.

Sure there are. There are a lot of innocent people in there as well. The current rate of incarceration in the US cannot be defended -- we're number one in the world. The profit motive certainly doesn't help. And just as we were about to turn a corner by Obama rolling back for-profit prisons, we have a new gang in town that wants to ratchet the whole thing back up again.

The vast majority of convictions are due to plea-bargains. You're poor, your innocent, you can't afford a decent attorney. They're going to throw the book at you -- or you can plea down for 1/4 of the time. Would you take those odds? It works.

And it's not just minorities these days, the fastest growing demographic behind bars is white males.

I don't know anyone who has actually been in that situation tho ....
They just do a complete search on you, the explosive test and open all your bags.

They also try to confirm your identity with cards and any other mean possible

You should open your eyes a little to what is really going on in your country. Mass incarceration is a for profit business in this country. Aside from private for profit prisons, many corporations use forced (slave) labor to make products for cheap. So why not lock up that kid for carrying an ounce of weed so he can have a criminal record for the rest of his life and never have a chance at a real future?

I highly recommend watching the documentary '13th' on Netflix. While that focuses on the racial aspect of prisons, it's still an eye opener into the justice system in America, or better yet the injustice system.

Thanks^

I think the most blatant example of this is the central park five case back in the 80's. The NYPD had absolutely no case against these kids and they knew it, so they bullied them into accepting plea deals and admitting guilt. Completely destroyed these kid's lives

If anybody is wondering why all of us are legally subject to searches at airports (NYC subways, schools and other exempted places), just read New Jersey vs T.L.O. (1985). The Supreme Court ruled that there are some exceptions to the 4th Amendment... "exceptional circumstances ... beyond the need for normal law enforcement [that] make the warrant and probable cause requirement impractical." Feel free to turn down that CBP or TSA agent. You might not be arrested but you'll be required to leave the airport and might have to answer to your employer why you were unable to fly that flight.

Good. Then my employer can deal with them and get to the bottom of why they're overreaching their bounds. What a crock of $7!t. Wake up people. Don't just rollover to anything and everything law enforcement asks of you. Last I checked we had certain inalienable rights
