Point of clarification:
This is a meteorite

me·te·or·ite
ˈmēdēəˌrīt

noun: meteorite; plural noun: meteorites
a meteor that survives its passage through the earth's atmosphere such that part of it strikes the ground. More than 90 percent of meteorites are of rock, while the remainder consist wholly or partly of iron and nickel.

Are you sure this isn't what you saw?

me·te·or
ˈmēdēər,ˈmēdēˌôr

noun: meteor; plural noun: meteors
a small body of matter from outer space that enters the earth's atmosphere, becoming incandescent as a result of friction and appearing as a streak of light.

Yep.

Exactly what I thought when I saw the title.

It’s OK though. Got the point

A meteorite could also be seen as a brightly lite up "shooting star", it doesn't just fall as a rock. Most meteors will have a melted side from the heat of re-entry.

Not technically. He's splitting fine hairs, but a meteorite does not become a meteorite until impact. So a soon-to-be-meteorite is still just a meteor while in flight and visible

Right, and before it upgraded to meteor it was just a meteoroid.
