That idiot, Mullins had the company pay a PR firm a lotta money to come up with the idea to change the "Widget" to the "Smiley Faced One". Thank goodness Grinstein and company bent to employee pressure and change it back.
Quite Frankly I surprised Delta didn't repaint their fleet sooner.

Look at USAir, United and NW

It is a well known fact (Wharton MBA secret handhsake) that one of the first things you do as a new CEO (especially when the Airline is in Deep financial trouble) is repaint the entire fleet, shortly followed by screwing your employees with pay/benefit cuts and lower morale, followed by giving yourself and your cronies a big fat bonus for all you've done thus far..................Then you either resign or get fired and walk away with 20 or 30 million worth in a Golden Parachute. This CEO stuff ain't so hard.

The new paint job is awful.

What with the resurgence of Delta employee pride ("keep Delta MY Delta"), and the emergence from bankruptcy, I think they should celebrate by bringing back the classic livery.

There's nothing wrong with the paint they have now. Definitely money that could be spent better elsewhere...

Long time ago as a S/O on a DC-10 we flew it up to everret field outside of Seattle to be painted in the new FDX colors. I asked on of the gentlemen how much it cost to paint a DC-10? He said about $90,000.00.

Don't know what a 737 or Md-80 whould cost but have to agree that money could be better spent elsewhere.........

As someone else said, the airplanes are going to be repainted at their normal cycle. So in other words, they would have been painted anyhow.

Actually, you've got it wrong. First you screw the employees, then paint the airplanes.

Nope--- Still wrong...

1. Screw Employees
2. Take HUGE Bonus
3. Buy a BMW
4. Paint Planes
5. Give the employees a cookie, that equals about 3% of what they gave up!
6.More bonuses!

That about sums it up. You forgot to add "buy a 12'000sq.ft house" and "Purchase personal Learjet" and "screw employees more".
