yes the original Divy is now gone. What they have done is taken the $2000 and turned it into a “pay rate raise”. In reality, all they did was convert it into a straight raise and adjust it slightly for being taxed income.

However, pilots can now set aside $1000/2000/3000 a month pre-tax from their total monthly pay to be added to their Divy account for non-taxable commuting expenses.

There are times when a union is necessary, this however, is not it.
This aged well.

Hahah, yes it did. In his defense, I still don’t understand how the company was able to raise the pay without union input. I assume it’s because we don’t have a CBA. I’m not mad at those rates, within a few bux of F9/Nk is a good starting point for when we have some elected representation.

Now that the ‘Divvy’ is all but dissolved into the new pay rates, what is the official commuter policy?

Be aware that commuting expenses are not deductible. Even if the company sets that money aside and does not withhold taxes you will still owe taxes on what you spend on hotels and airfare ect when commuting to your domicile and unused funds. The only time it becomes non taxable or a write off is if you are temporarily based at a different domicile or the trip begins and ends at a location other than your domicile and the company does not provide transportation. Most airlines provide DH transportation in that situation.

Could someone please advise on how the most recent schedules look? How many days are most trips? I’ve been searching, but can’t find the answer anywhere. I don’t know where to look. I would really appreciate someone’s help with this!

Breeze is essentially 3 airlines in 1.

The charter side is great for commuters. E190 flying, 8 on 7 off then 7 on 8 off.

Then there’s the 195 days trips, out of MSY CHS ORF PVU. Senior guys (top 2 in base) probably get around 18-20 days off. The rest around 15-17 and the bottom reservist’s get 12. Not commuter friendly because the 195 does not fly sat-tue-wed. So you have a bunch of single days off that you can’t go home on. It’s great if you don’t commute.

And then there’s the A220 flying which currently is horrendous. Single days off , some guys not able to go home for months. They did apparently fix the schedules this month by combining bids from multiple bases in order to award consecutive days off . That’s yet to be seen.

The QOL is slowly improving and the pay is a lot better now. So things are trending in the right direction.

Got it, thank you so much! That’s super helpful.

If I get hired, am I able to choose to not do charter? I want to live in base and do shorter trips - like, nothing longer than 4 days. If I am forced to do charter, I’d rather go somewhere else

So instead of just accepting reality back in January, they chose to build a bunch of bad will between the pilots and management, a bad reputation among the people who had their flights cancelled last minute earlier in the year, and have ALPA on property now, only to have to start acknowledging reality 8 months later and make some minor improvements.

Yes. That’s essentially what happened. But most airline managements work that way.
