Airbus type for captains which they are hiring for right now. FO hiring should start shortly and no type required. I know of a few FOs already hired that the biggest thing they have flown is a RJ.

They didn't hire me with 6000 Airbus time. Yup, I stared them in the face in SFO and they didn't flinch!

Default VA hiring

here is the scoop guys and gals....

if you have A320 time...that is good to go...

alot of folks claim to have the type when it is actually a SIC type...don't try to BS anyone with this line....

the total time is important....if you have over 6K, A320 type, good PIC time....then you are a good candidate....

much more is required however than just the appropriate time...

there is a pre screening process which is completed on line...this link will be sent to you if you are being considered.....

I would ecourage anyone to re-apply or update your on line app because the hiring criteria is changing constantly...so just because you may have not been contacted initially does not mean that you could not be a near future candidate.

The initial bunch HAD to have alot of A320 PIC time and total time to qualify for initial start up. Most of this was to satisty the FAA requirments. That makes sense.

Now it is possible to come off of a B737, DC9, B757, with good PIC time and be considered for captain. A320 type is preferred, but not required.

FO candidates should be considered soon too. Guys and gals coming off of the CRJ are great candidates. DO jet and SAAB too. Now would be the time to get on. With the amound of hiring and the projected growth, a FO hired in 2008 should be captain within that same year. If it takes longer, well not a bad FO job either.

Good luck and keep the questions coming!!

I did app and the online assessment. One of those "be a great worker, but not too much greater than everyone else". Got the call a few days later. Just waiting to hear more now. A330 do you know if they have interviews scheduled. I think some one posted "july" start dates for the airline itself.

if you got the call...you should have been scheduled for an interview...

they will be hosting interviews almost weekly in the coming months...you should not have any troubles getting a date that works for you...

Good luck...

i think you would be very happy over there!

I'm just curious where are most of these applicants coming from with types and 5000 hours in the A/C? Anyone?

Why do you think that..

Chairman of Virgin America is Donald Carty, ex-AMR CEO

'Con' Carty is non-executive Chairman of the board, not CEO/COO. He won't have anything to do with the day-to-day running of the airline---thank God.
