deer hunting if I am only wanting meat. I will then headshot a doe so no meat at all gets wasted. But a .223 is actually great at taking down white tails, especially if you are a smaller younger hunter.

“I’ve already had it and survived” will fix scared, too, as long as one remains immune.
The economic impact of fear killing consumer demand is a constant. But what we are dealing with is nothing like terrorism. We should focus on the facts of what we are facing and respond accordingly.
Of course, other than staying home, except for those of us who are medical or pharmaceutical professionals, there isn’t much for any of us to do. And therein lies a big challenge, especially for pilots who tend to be goal-oriented control freaks anyway.

THANK YOU! Just shows how ignorant to guns some people are. But on the post you highlighted, I actually prefer my .223 for

Why would hunting in .223 with a 30-round clip make one “ignorant to guns”?

What’s more likely to happen in a modern society:
20 kindergarteners (kids just like yours) get mowed down with an AR while doing something as innocent as learning to read.
or
we run out of food and the deranged masses are banging on your door for peanut butter?
......
and how about mandatory training and safety to go along with the universal background checks. We’ve all seen it at the range. Half of those people shouldn’t own firearms.

- 2003-07 (pre-zombie apocalypse for those keeping score at home)
- 3.7 million annual home burglaries
- 28% of the time, someone was home when the burglary happened (1.04 million annual)
- 7% of all household burglaries experienced some form of violent crime (simple/aggravated assault, rape, robbery, murder--259,000 annual)
- 2006-2017 (post-assault weapons ban for those keeping score at home)
- 361 mass killings (defined as 4 victims or more)
- 272 of those involved firearms
- Of the 272, 130 were family/domestic situations; 31 involved robbery; 42 were "other" (biker gang shootout was one of the ones in the "other" category)
- Of 272 mass killings between 2006-17 (not an annual number), 58 were public "bolt from the blue" type attacks in line with what you describe above
- Out of these 58 mass shootings (which encompassed VaTech, Ft Hood, Sandy Hook, Aurora, Newtown, Pulse Nightclub, & Las Vegas among others), 517 lost their lives
- Of mass shooting incidents, semi-auto rifles (the AR-15 clones, or the so called "assault weapons") account for 8.6% of cases. This is roughly the same as shotguns, and far less than the 50% that involve semi-auto handguns.

I agree that safety/training should be required.

230am. They came into my home knowing we were at home and likely asleep.
If not for our large and protective dog being in kitchen its probable we would have woken up to armed intruders in our bedroom. Or worse.
Cops caught the crew a few weeks later. 2 violent felons on parole. And a underage female. They had robbed homes across the county.
Thats the point i became a gun owner.
