Skybus

I have to disagree. We used to have a base in Columbus, Ohio. There's a reason we left. I give them five years at the most. The problem is they'll be costing the rest of us money until they go. Of course I could be wrong. I gave Western 2 years, they didn't even make it 2 weeks.

I wanted to see what this Skybus was all about so I went to the site and said I wanted to fly from Seattle to Richmond, VA. The cost on "Cheaptickets" to go July 5 (out of Sea-Tac) on Delta (for two people) and return on July 8 was $709.18. The cost for Skybus was $883.20 (out of Bellingham, WA).
Quite a difference but that is not even the beginning. First, I live just south of Seattle in Federal Way. I have to drive 115 miles through Seattle rush hour to catch the 9am flight. Probably going to take 3+ hours. Then, since all flights go through Columbus, OH I have to go there first. But, I cannot make the connection time to go to Richmond so I get to spend the night. On the return flight the same process applies...another night in Columbus and another 3+ hour drive back home. In addition, I have to buy overpriced crappy food and drinks on the plane because I cannot bring anything and I have to pay more to check a bag because I could not fit everything for 5 days in a carry-on. By the way, how are they going to fit 156 carry-on bags on a A-319? They are going to have to gate-check half the bags. Will they charge for that? Will they depart late when they find this out? Now, I am in a bad mood and after they shoe-horn me into my seat (156 seats in a 319!!!) I am going to be really ****ed after about 4 hours and whatever the delay is. I just don't see how this will work out. I am not a smart man and am not paid to figure this out, but I have commuted for a long time and could just imagine how horrendous this experience would be for the ordinary traveler with 3 kids. So, $883 + another $300 in the overnight hotels, food while waiting for next flight and entertaining the wife in Columbus really makes this trip suck when I can just pay $709 at Delta and get to Richmond same day with none of the hassle. If I were going to only Columbus, it would still suck because of the drive time, shoe-horning in seat, pay for all drinks and most likely the smelly trailer trash sitting all around me. No thanks.

The problem with the "dirt cheap" crowd is that they can barely afford the gas from the trailer park to the airport......... Maybe if I smart-in up I can carpool with them there????

I think they are finding the cash. Over 100,000 tickets have been booked already through the Skybus website.

883? You must be mistaken. They said $10.00. All seats $10.00!
That's the problem with John Q. Public. The average $8.00/hr, Jerry Springer/ WWF watching chicken plucker doesn't realize that only ten "$10" seats on Skybus are offered, or 3 "$49.00" on Southwest.
