My fear at this airline in particular is that there would be a furlough and the rest of the pilot group would happily fly extra to pick up the slack, negating the need for the airline to recall for even longer.

if you’re unionized, it’s looked down upon to pick up OT if anyone is furloughed. Beyond looked down upon.

I can guarantee you that was Zap’s point.....but his shop LOVES to slop at the trough. That’s not a jab at WN, it’s just a well known fact that it’s a badge of honor to hustle over there. Zap has also been furloughed before. He knows what he’s talking about.

Yeah. They have a history of slopping at the trough with pilots on furlough.

Who's pilots on furlough? SWA has never furloughed, so your point is meaningless.

I think he's talking about OTHER people's pilots being on furlough. True, but meh.

How do other airlines having people on furlough effect SWA pilots workload choices?

Thank you. I thought pilots were smarter than that. My mistake.

For the slow....

Someone was yakking about SWA pilots slopping at the trough, implying they'd do the same with pilots on furlough and I (sarcastically) pointed out their history of doing just that. Such as in NEVER. 🙄
