Well, all I’d like to know whether Alaska will put a wahine on the HNL-bound planes.

I'm curious as to why you would say that? A 757 is basically the same seating arrangement as a 737, (3-3). The ETOPS aircraft both have the same back-ups, (HDG ect..). Why shouldn't a 737 make that flight?

As a PS, I prefer flying the 757 10 times as much as a 737 just asking why you said that.

Nope, never made that claim. But I have spent A LOT of time commuting on both. And like I said, from a passenger standpoint, what would be the difference between being wedged into a coach seat on a 75 vs. being wedged into a coach seat of a 73 for 6+ hours?

I don't get it. Just because the 757 is slightly bigger makes it better to cross an ocean? It's basically the same fuselage as a 737. AS and many other carriers comfortably fly 6-7 hour trans-cons in all the NGs. What's the diff if there is water underneath??

Incorrect. B737's do not have an HMG. The APU has to be running for the flight beyond EREP for elect. back up.

The B757 is the better airplane. The real money is hauling freight to HI and the B737 can hardly take any. (My experience it less than 3000 lbs. from LAX) I'd wager that AS won't be taking any.

The Navy has been flying 737's trans-pond for several years now. DC-9's before that. As alluded to above, if the seating is right, who cares how big the plane is?

I stand corrected. Thanks for the update. I guess I would feel more comfortable crossing with an HDG.

Better systems, higher fuel capacity, longer ETOPS reliability record...the list is endless. As a passenger or a pilot, I vote 757 over 737 ANY series ANY day when going oceanic.

Buuut. Narrow bodies suck. In that regard 737,757, no difference.

I give up! What is an HMG? I'm assuming the "EREP" is the same as Equal Time Point (ETP).
