That is pretty terrible. Never even saw that at the regionals. Although I'd prefer ramp gossip over FA gossip any day!

F9s crew room (combined pilot/FA) are owned by the FAs. Every time I walk into one it feels like I’m on the set of the The View.

Yes pilot only lounges are a must. Even FAs don't need to be as rested as we do and they act accordingly.

This is actually one thing I miss from the corporate/part 91 world. We had our own space in many FBOs that was pilots only, with TVs or rest rooms etc. In the airline world you share that room with everyone from FAs to admins etc.

In my regional days I remember trying to get some sleep in the quiet room in our ORD crew lounge only to have admins walk in/out and turn the lights on and off since they kept some supplies in there. Exactly what I needed after a 14hr day and missed commute home.

Everyone deserves humane rest, the jobs maybe different but the human biology is the same. The FAs at your airline work far longer duty days than you.

The C concourse lounge in ATL is pretty nice. “You’re welcome” to whomever is there now.

True, but combining the lounges creates enough disturbance so that no one can relax. We have different conversations, choice of TV, needs for for privacy, etc. Separate doesn’t mean one group is better, just that each have a suitable environment.

When I first got to delta from the regionals I kinda found the separate pilot/FA crew lounges to be a bit odd. However, after having to visit the FA lounges a few times, I understand why they are separated. The FA lounges seem to have the frantic atmosphere of a high school passing period. From random PA announcements to lots of talking and movement and activity and "see and be seen (and heard!)" energy. Not relaxing at all. The pilot lounges on the other hand always seem chill, relaxed and like professional workspaces.

Let's put it this way: I have logged far more hours in a pilot only lounge than FA/shared lounges and have NEVER heard anyone squeal and yell across an otherwise quiet pilot lounge when they see a friend they haven't seen in a while.

I agree completely. When I was still doing corporate, I was waiting on a passenger in an FBO lounge at around 10pm. Some dude comes up while I’m on my laptop and eating some dinner in the main lounge/couch/TV area. He asks if I’d mind turning the lights and TV off so he can sleep.

Yeah dude, I do. I’m up working on stuff and flying out soon, I can’t sit in the dark. There’s a nice sleep room right over there, with nobody in it.

He says he doesn’t like sleep rooms, and can we please make it dark in here.

No. No we can’t. Get a hotel room if you can’t deal with a sleep room.

He said he only has 8 hours so it’s “not worth” a hotel. WTF.

We went round and round. It was the most bizarre exchange I’ve ever had.
